Curiosity Shop
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of silk painting and batik in this engaging workshop led by Kathy Green. Participants will explore various water-based resists and learn how to amalgamate diverse techniques, focusing on mastering the application of guttas and other resists to create intricate layers, manage dye flow, and juxtapose colors effectively. Your designs can range from realistic to abstract, cartoonish to stamped. Basic shibori techniques can also be integrated into the learning process.
Although batik is an available option, we recommend minimal wax usage due to the unavailability of dry-cleaning wax removal; participants will need to manually iron out the wax from the silk multiple times. Please note that the dyes provided are compatible only with silk and wool.
Each day primarily consists of open studio time, complemented by approximately two hours of structured teaching and review, allowing students the flexibility to explore and create at their own pace. Attendance every hour or day is not mandatory, catering to individual availability and preference.
Whether you are a novice or experienced artist, this workshop offers a rich, creative experience, cultivating your artistic skills and vision in a supportive environment.
