Descripción

Artists have been drawing trees for centuries for many reasons. The associations are endless: tree of life, the apple tree in the Garden of Eden, family trees and their role as the lungs of the world. When we are drawing a tree we feel grounded picturing their roots growing deep into the earth and at the same time we feel the freedom to grow up into the sky as they reach for the sun. In this class we will be making drawings of trees from different points of view. The first day we will draw inside experimenting with new drawing tools and also making collaborative large drawings to create a forest of trees in our classroom. The second day, weather permitting, we will go outside and make a series of drawings in our sketchbooks, portraits of a specific or favorite tree.

About the Instructor
Nemirov is from NYC. She studied at The Art Student’s League and received a BFA from Parson’s School of Design. After working as a free-lance illustrator for 11 years she devoted her time to painting and exhibiting her work. In 1988 she moved to Ridgway, CO and opened a gallery with her husband Jorge which specialized in antique prints, maps and books about the American West. The gallery closed in 1999 and since then she has focused on studio work and on-site painting and teaching. Nemirov maintains a studio in Ridgway and spends part of the year in Spain where she teaches on the island of Mallorca
