Ceramics

Ceramics Open Studio offers ceramics students a monthly space to create, make and share at Ah Haa’s purpose built facility with 12 wheels, slab roller, handbuilding tables, extruder, three electric cone 6 kilns and a glazing kitchen. This incubator for emerging and established ceramic artists is a cornerstone of Telluride’s creative community and commitment to create opportunities for access to hands-on arts spaces for those who want to create.

 

Open Studio spaces are available first come, first served, and a waitlist will be established with full capacity. Materials including clay, glazes, and firing fees are not included in the membership fee and may be purchased from Ah Haa. Included in your monthly fee, is a dedicated storage shelf and shared space in a lockable cabinet.

 

Membership fees are due the Monday before the first day of each month. Failure to pay on time will result in the immediate loss of your membership and movement to the bottom of the waiting list. Please note that adult and youth students enrolled in our traditional classes have priority over the main classroom space during scheduled class times. Open Studio members may work in the glazing kitchen during scheduled class times, which includes a handbuilding table and two wheels.

Palmyra Membership Full Access $150 Monthly

  • Available year-round on a first come, first serve basis

  • Access to the studio equipped with twelve pottery wheels and accompanying handbuilding tables, a slab roller, extruder, low-fire and mid-range firing services, and a glazing kitchen

  • A dedicated storage shelf (14” deep x 38” wide x 16” high) and half of a closed cabinet (three shelves in overall space of 12.5” deep x 17” wide x 28” high) for storing your tools and materials 

  • Access to the ceramics studio 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a unique door code

  • 20% off select ceramics classes year-round

AJAX MEMBERSHIP FULL ACCESS
$100 MONTHLY

  • Available year-round on a first come, first serve basis

  • Access to the studio equipped with twelve pottery wheels and accompanying handbuilding tables, a slab roller, extruder, low-fire and mid-range firing services, and a glazing kitchen
  • A dedicated storage shelf (12.3” deep x 28” wide x 14” high) for storing your tools and materials

BEAR CREEK LIMITED ACCESS
$50 Monthly

  • Available in January, February, March, April, May, September, October, November, and December

  • Access to the studio equipped with twelve pottery wheels and accompanying handbuilding tables, a slab roller, extruder, low-fire and mid-range firing services, and a glazing kitchen

  • Does not include dedicated storage space for anything other than wet clay

  • Access to the ceramics studio while Ah Haa is open to the public (Monday-Friday, from 10AM-6PM)

    • 20% off select ceramics classes year-round

Open Studio members are required to have completed a 4-week ceramics class at Ah Haa or similar ceramics program.
Memberships are approved on a case-by-case basis by the Ceramics Program Director.

Painting

 

Ah Haa’s Painting Open Studio program offers painters a dedicated space to create, make, and share their work. Our purpose-built facility features workspaces equipped with easels, gator boards, and tables for your convenience. The Painting Open Studio is an incubator for emerging and established painters and is an essential part of Telluride’s creative community. Our program is committed to providing access to hands-on arts spaces for those who want to create.

 

Open Studio spaces are available by the month on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will maintain a waitlist for when capacity is reached. Membership fees are $100 monthly and are due the Monday before the first day of each month. Failure to pay on time will result in the immediate loss of membership and movement to the bottom of the waiting list. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

 

Our Painting Open Studio Program runs year round with the option to renew monthly or cancel at any time. Membership fees will not be prorated for partial months. Members who cancel will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list if they choose to reapply for membership at a later time.

 

Painting open studio memberships $125 Monthly

  • Monthly fee includes 24/7 access to painting studio outside of scheduled class times (students have prioity)

  • Dedicated storage space

  • Members must provide own materials (paints, brushes, canvas etc)

  • 10% off select painting classes year-round

Open Studio members are approved on a case-by-case basis by The Visual Arts Program Director.

Teen

 

Teen Open Studio offers students an opportunity to use a variety of Ah Haa’s studio spaces to create their own work and collaborate with other young artists. Student members are encouraged to work with directors on studio and program maintenance. Students may have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition and/or portfolio review during their membership. This membership is our commitment to create opportunities for access to hands-on arts spaces for local emerging artists.


This is a semi-monitored Open Studio, one of the directors or the program manager will be available to students during the Open Studio hours. Students in this program are permitted to use select materials provided by Ah Haa.

TEEN open studio memberships $75 Monthly

  • Monthly fee includes materials

  • Now accepting applications for the 2023/2024 school year.
Open Studio members are approved on a case-by-case basis by the Youth & Teen Program Manager.

Bookbinding

 

The American Academy of Bookbinding’s Open Bookbinding Studio program offers binders a dedicated space to create, make, and share their work during winter. Our purpose-built facility features workspaces equipped with tables, tools, and specialized equipment for your bookbinding needs. The Open Bookbinding Studio is an incubator for emerging and established bookbinders and is an essential part of Telluride’s creative community. Our program is committed to providing access to a hands-on art space for those who want to create.

 

Open Bookbinding Studio membership includes 24-hour access to the Old Stone Building and equipment, with a dedicated work table with storage underneath, available by the week on a first-come, first-served basis. A membership fee is due at sign-up and on the first Monday of each month. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. There is the option to renew weekly or monthly or cancel at any time. Membership fees will not be prorated for partial weeks.

• All Open Studio members must have completed Introduction to Bookbinding Levels 1 & 2 or demonstrate the proper use of equipment.
• The fee includes 24/7 access to the Old Stone Building.
• One dedicated work table with storage space underneath. Tables are 40” x 96”
• Additional tables are available for a 50% discount, if available.
• Members must provide their own materials.

Open Studio members are approved on a case-by-case basis by the American Academy of Bookbinding Managing Director.
