School FAQS

How do I register for classes?

Register online via ahhaa.org, or in person in Ah Haa’s lobby in advance of classes or camps.

Where can I find a supply list?

A list of supplies needed is provided within the class description. Once you register for a class, the necessary materials and any other special instructions will be included in your confirmation email.

Does Ah Haa sell art supplies?

We do not sell art supplies. We do have a partnership with Blick Art Materials. Telluride’s Ace Hardware Store has a limited selection of art supplies. If you’re traveling here, please bring your materials, as there is not a dedicated art supply store in the area.

How Can i apply for tuition assistance?

All local and regional residents are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance.  Applications can be submitted at any time, and approvals remain active for 12 months. Please fill out our online form. Each form will be reviewed in confidence,

What is your COVID policy?

You can find our full COVID Policy at this link.

Class Cancellations?

All classes are subject to minimum enrollment numbers: full refunds will be issued for any class canceled by the Ah Haa School. Full tuition, less a $25 non-refundable processing fee, will be returned when cancellations occur 14 days or more before the class starts. No refund will be given when a cancellation is made less than 14 days before the class begins. Class transfers are subject to the same restrictions as cancellations, and a $25 administrative fee will apply. All classes are subject to a nonrefundable processing fee.

CULINARY CLASS FAQS

What can i expect when I arrive?

Please check in at the front desk in the lobby before making your way up to the second-floor culinary classroom. Participants are welcomed into the classroom no more than 5 minutes before the published start time. Feel free to visit our Exhibition Gallery or check out our Library.

What SHOULD I BRING?

We encourage you to bring a notebook and pen for note taking. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. For participants 21 and older, we have a variety of wine and beer available for purchase during classes. No outside alcohol is permitted. Ah Haa provides all the tools, equipment and ingredients needed for classes, including aprons. We will notify you in advance if there is anything else you should bring.

What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

If you have an allergy we ask that you fill out our form upon registration and we will do our best to accommodate. Not all classes can be adapted; moreover, those with celiac should be aware that we are not a certified gluten-free kitchen. Please feel free to reach out to Ah Haa Culinary Director Jess Newens at jess@ahhaa.org prior to booking to ensure this class will be a good fit for you.

Will I work individually or in a group?

Because our class sizes are small (up to 12 people), students work collectively for the most part. Sometimes groups are split into smaller numbers at workstations, but the classes always culminate in a shared meal of the food prepared.

What is your age cut off for adult classes?

For the most part, our adult classes are intended for those 18 and up. Classes where alcohol is a focus are limited to 21 and up. In some cases, we can accommodate ages 16 and up, but advance permission is required.

Summer Camp FAQS

Are there Drop-In Camp Options?

Children must be enrolled in a full camp session if they wish to participate. If your child will miss a day of camp, please notify Ah Haa staff at info@ahhaa.org.

What is the Drop-Off/Pick-Up Policy?

Guardians are expected to sign in their students the first day of a camp/class session. Please be sure to enter through the main lobby entrance of Ah Haa for sign in. While Ah Haa does not require guardians to sign students out of class, students may not remain at Ah Haa after their class ends. Please make sure you and your student have arrangements planned for departure after class. Please notify staff if you have any questions or concerns.

Are there age limitations?

Ah Haa welcomes students ages 5 and older. Please ensure that you enroll students in the appropriate age group. We ask that younger participants not enroll in classes with older age groups; if an older participant would like to join a younger age group, this will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Wheel Throwing begins at age 9, due to physical reach and strength requirements.

Clothing & Outdoor Activities

Making art can be messy. While Ah Haa provides smocks, all participants should wear clothing that can get messy. You may wish to send your child with additional clothing to change into; please be sure they are able to change their clothes on their own. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are encouraged for all participants. Students with long hair should always have it pulled back for wheel-based ceramics classes.

Telluride is inspiring! Ah Haa classes often take breaks outside or walk to another location within the town of Telluride. When classes venture off site, participants are supervised by Ah Haa Staff and/or Instructors at all times. If needed, apply sunscreen to your child before they arrive. If your child needs additional applications throughout their participation, please provide the necessary products.

Snacks & Lunch Breaks

All students should bring a snack and a transportable water bottle every day. Ah Haa does not provide snacks. Please avoid packing nuts. Parents need to plan to pick up their kids for lunch. If your student is enrolled in both morning and afternoon sessions, please make sure you have plans for your student between each session. Parents should plan to pick up students for lunch;  students cannot remain at the Ah Haa School during this time.

In Case of Emergency

It is crucial that a parent or designated adult is reachable while your child is in camp at Ah Haa. Please provide both primary and secondary contact names and phone numbers at the time of registration. Make sure you, or the secondary contact listed are in a location that is proximal and accessible for phone calls and please notify front desk staff if you plan to be out of cell service during class time. Remember that many trails in our region have intermittent cellular service. All Ah Haa Participants should be bathroom independent. We are not a licensed childcare facility and we will call parents in the event of a bathroom accident. Please notify Ah Haa staff if your student has any food or severe allergies.

When can I pick up my Ceramic Project(s)?

Please note: All ceramics projects need to be fired in a pottery kiln and take approximately 1-2 weeks before they are ready to be taken home. You will receive an email once pieces are ready for pickup. If you will no longer be in Telluride, domestic shipping options are available via a third party, Ship It, Copy It. Ah Haa will discard ceramics projects 30 days after the end of a class unless you have made arrangements directly with our Ceramics Director.

For those who need to have their pieces shipped domestically, please be sure to select this option during the registration process. The total cost for safely packaging and shipping your ceramics projects will be listed on the online registration page for each class. Ah Haa does not offer international shipping as a standard option.
