Transformation Studio
Join Printmaking instructor Ouida Touchon to explore the enriching world of block printing and craft your one-of-a-kind cotton shoulder bag. In this engaging single-day class, participants will design and carve individual blocks, print them onto cotton bags, and then exchange blocks with other class participants to embellish their creations with a melange of patterns, each telling a different artistic story.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this workshop will be a melting pot of ideas, colors, and designs, giving you a uniquely collaborative tote to flaunt and a newfound appreciation for the timeless art of block printing. All materials will be provided, so bring your creativity and be ready to get your hands colorful!
About the Instructor:
Ouida Touchón is a visual artist from New Mexico, now living in Delta, Colorado who spends most of her waking moments at the easel or the press. She has her BFA in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute, and her Master of Art from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in studio arts. In addition, she has studied with mentors and distinguished printmakers and painters in Italy, Mexico, and the United States. Her work has been exhibited at various galleries and museums including El Paso Museum of Art, the Federal Building in Las Cruces New Mexico, and the Las Cruces Museum of Art, Arvada Colorado Center for the Arts, Red Brick Center for the Arts, Aspen. Previous to establishing her home and studio in Delta, Ouida lived in Denver and was an active artist- member of ArtGym Denver where she worked on her portfolio of mixed media and one of a kind artworks.
