Description

In this workshop students will be making blank books with multiple signatures and flat spines including one soft cover book and two hardbound books. Students will learn about paper grain, stitching, cutting, laminating, covering, proportion, sewing threads, etc. as well as get acquainted with a variety of materials and using the proper adhesives. With each structure, a new stitch will be introduced. Come learn something new and useful and take home the expertise to make more books at home. Attendees are expected to come away with three finished books.

 

All materials included, but students are encouraged to bring a notepad and pen for personal notes.

 

About the Instructor
A distinguished student at the American Academy of Bookbinding, Lucia Farias boasts an MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from The University of the Arts, Philadelphia. She has imparted her expertise at several renowned institutions, including the San Francisco Center for the Book, Philadelphia Center for the Book, and the International Printing Museum, among others. Lucia currently resides in Monterrey, Mexico, where she operates her bindery, Oveja Verde, and offers local classes.
